Get to Know Dr. Young

Mary Young, O.D., is a compassionate optometrist who provides her patients with a personal approach to eye care at our Summerville office. She takes the time to understand her patients’ eye health needs and customizes her services, like contact lens fittings, to help them see clearly.

A native of Fishers, Indiana, Dr. Young attended school and university in her home state and then moved to South Carolina with her husband in 2018. When not taking care of her patients at Lowcountry Eye Care, she spends her time at the beach, traveling, working on home projects, exploring Charleston, and relaxing with her family and friends!

Dr. Young is a member of the American Optometric Association and the South Carolina Optometric Physicians Association.

Educational Background & Experience

For her undergraduate education, Dr. Young attended DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, earning a Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry and graduating summa cum laude. She went on to attend optometry school, where she was an active member and president of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society. After achieving her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry, Dr. Young practiced in Indianapolis, specializing in primary care, dry eye disease, and contact lenses.

  I called this morning and was able to get an appt for my elderly mother. Everything was exceptional starting with scheduling, reception, the initial work up with Taylor, Dr V and the wonderful young woman (her name has slipped my mind) who helped with ordering new lenses. They were able to work with my mother to make it affordable for her. Everyone was so patient with her. Highly recommend!

  Today was my first visit and they will now be my new eye care office. All of the staff was absolutely wonderful and Dr. V was awesome. If you are looking for exceptional eye care you need to see the team at Low Country Eye Care in Crowfield.

  I had a great experience here today. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. Dr. Wasack was amazing and showed genuine interest while discussing my vision. The main reason I was searching for a new provider was because my previous provider had become very utilitarian and corporate, making me feel like simply a customer to be shuffled through the processes. That was not the case at Lowcountry Eye Care - Goose Creek. Here it was much more of a friendly, neighborly atmosphere.  I beleive I have found my new vision provider.
